BOOK HOUSE

The idea of a renovated house Célières dedicated to books and literature Caledonian date of 2001. From the outset, it is necessary that actors have in the book Caledonian own a place dedicated to the creation and reflection, interface with the public, but also a tool for professionals.

In this perspective, the Book House in New Caledonia wants everything at once:
· a historic place and media iconic (known to all and easily visible from the street) to protect and transmit to future generations;
· center contemporary resources (database updated: catalog all books published and freely available, available to the public of all contacts, help and home permanents) with a territorial and open to all;
· a creative element (homes of writers, writing workshops and / or bookbinding);
· pole animation (programming a season of actions to be undertaken over the year on and off the walls in Noumea in the interior and to the islands);
· a hub of discussion and exchange between communities and associations that operate mostly independently of each other.

The purpose of the Book House is, in fact, federate, to network and synergy (both local and abroad, in conjunction with agencies similar) multiple partners of the book - but not replace the existing structures and their missions - to enhance coordination actors in their book projects in the medium and long term.

Thus, one of the major issues House of Paper is to help develop New Caledonia a concerted policy of the book and reading by the introduction of a reflection and ongoing cooperation between key stakeholders in the book, private (editors, writers, animators reading, broadcasters, distributors, booksellers ...) associations, and public (Government of New Caledonia, provinces, Mission Cultural Affairs, City of Noumea, libraries, media). The

MLNC organizes on-site (or in reception areas, across New Caledonia), various manifestations: signatures, lectures, residencies, internships, workshops, meetings between the stakeholders in the book and the general public.

In the same vein, MLNC must facilitate access to information and counseling, provide logistical support for beginning writers or not, promote local literary heritage, and of course, encourage a love of reading and enjoyment writing.

It is also for the associations members and guest writers and / or residence, place of assembly, design and animation. They will have to place all the necessary equipment (telephone, fax, broadband Internet, photocopier, computers, printers, scanners).

The chart includes four permanent :
